Golden Key International Honor Society
Golden Key International Honor Society was founded to recognize and encourage scholastic achievement and excellence among juniors and seniors in all undergraduate fields of study who rank in the top 15 percent of their classes. It is through the recognition of scholastic achievement, the presentation of scholarships to outstanding members, and the involvement of members in educational programs that the society promotes excellence in academics. Membership is by invitation only.

Iota Iota Iota (Triota)
Triota is an honor society dedicated to the ideals of excellence in scholarship and service. This organization promotes interest in research, community, and social issues. Triota strives to maintain feminist values central to Women’s Studies: Egalitarianism, Inclusiveness, and Diversity.
This honor society, sponsored by the Department of Gender and Race Studies and the Women and Gender Resource Center, is open to undergraduate and graduate students. If you have taken at least 6 credit hours in Women’s Studies and have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA, we invite you to apply to Iota Iota Iota, Gamma Iota Chapter.

Lambda Sigma
Lambda Sigma is a national sophomore honorary for men and women. The purpose of Lambda Sigma is to foster leadership, scholarship, fellowship, and the spirit of service among its members and promote the interests of the University. Membership in Lambda Sigma is not only recognition for academic achievement, but also a challenge to serve throughout your college career. Membership is open to rising sophomores. To be eligible to join, a student must have a minimum 3.2 GPA and be entering his or her second year of college.
Selection Criteria
- Class standing: Current Freshman (rising Sophomore)
- GPA: 3.2
- Selection timeline: Spring

Mortar Board
Mortar Board is the premier national honor society recognizing college seniors for superior achievement in scholarship, leadership and service. The University of Alabama’s Hypatia Chapter is one of the oldest chapters in the nation.
Only a select few students on each campus are invited to join this esteemed Society. Mortar Board members are presented with the unique opportunity to join a diverse group of students from vastly different disciplines and interests. Since Mortar Board’s founding in 1918, more than a quarter of a million members have held the honor of being initiated at 230 chartered chapters across the nation.
Our Society provides its members with opportunities for continued leadership development, promotes service to colleges and universities and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community.
Mortar Board invites all members to apply for the 2023-2024 academic year, regardless of ability to pay. Through grants and volunteer opportunities, Mortar Board is able to waive dues for all individuals selected for membership who need financial assistance.

- Class standing: Current Juniors/Rising Seniors
- GPA: 3.5
- Selection timeline: Spring

National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS)
The National Society of Collegiate Scholars is a national honors organization recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies that distinguishes high achieving first- and second-year college students, while providing them an opportunity to gain leadership experience and give back to their local communities. NSCS not only recognizes academic excellence, but cultivates leadership, teamwork, volunteering, and experience to prepare its members for future career success.
Selection Criteria
- Class Standing: Freshman or Sophomore
- GPA: 3.4/4.0 minimum
- Percentage in class: Top 20%
- Selection Timeline: Spring

National Society of Leadership and Success
The National Society of Leadership and Success is the world’s largest leadership honor society. The NSLS provides a life-changing leadership program that helps students achieve personal growth, career success, and empowers them to have a positive impact in their communities.
